Tour Details

The Manu National Park is located at the confluence of the Amazon Basin and the Tropical Andes in southwest Peru. It is a recognized sanctuary of terrestrial biodiversity. Because of its remote location, the Manu National Park remains mostly untouched by human activity.

The Manu National Park is a protected natural region that draws scientists and academics from all over the world. Inside the Manu’s forests, the beauty of orchids provides vibrant colors amid the surrounding foliage. The macaw clay licks, where these birds congregate, should not be missed by tourists.

Some groups of indigenous people have been inhabiting the Manu for a very long time. Some Pre Inca and Inca ruins and petroglyphs have been found in the region. Additionally, there is a local legend, which claims that the Paititi or the “Lost City of the Incas”  is situated inside the Manu. Nowadays, just a few indigenous groups live there permanently.

Even though the Manu lacks major archaeological complexes, such as Machu Picchu, it is a must visiting destination in Peru. The main attraction of this place is the rich flora and fauna that inhabits this rainforest. Unique jungle animals, such as capybaras, giant otters, and black caimans, can be found there.

The Manu National Park is home to hundreds of species of birds and other animals. Also, this national park is part of the much larger Amazon rainforest, one of the largest biomes in the world. During this Amazon tour, you will learn unique facts about the nature of the Amazon jungle.
