The Manu National Park is one of the biggest wildlife sanctuaries in South America. It is situated in southeast Peru, between the Cusco and Madre de Dios regions. This park protects more than 2 million hectares of rainforests that are home to a great range of habitats. These habitats include sections of the Andes mountains, cloud forests, and lowland forests.
While most of the forests in the world have been modified by human activity, the Manu remains as one of the last untouched places on earth. Due to its remote location, hundreds of unique species have been able to survive there without the interference of human civilization. These species include giant otters, black caimans, jaguars, spectacled bears, tapirs, ocelots, among other animals.
The Manu National Park is also home to numerous plant species, such as orchids, nectandras, cedroranas and podocarpus. These plants thrive inside the different biomes located inside the park. According to some estimates, around 1108 plant species have been identified.
This tour is perfect for exploring the southeast section of the Amazon rainforest. The Manu National Park is famous for its great biodiversity, lush jungles, and oxbow lakes. The tour includes boat trips through the beautiful rivers of the Amazon jungle.
